About the Evacuation

We all know that Mountains are not without uncertainties. During high-altitude treks, there can be chances of medical emergancies/natural calamities/illness because of high altitudes, rough terrains and adverse weather conditions. So, before starting the journey, a trekker should be aware of all the details about the rescue and evacuation process handled by Adventure Insurance Company or Local Support Team.

Nepal

Tentative cost for emergency rescue operation without Adventure Insurance:

(A) Helicopter rescue:

  1. Lower Altitude Routes (e.g., Annapurna or lower Everest trails): $3,000 – $6,000 USD

  2. High Altitude / High Passes (4,900m – 5,100m like Lobuche or Gorakshep): $6,000 – $10,000 USD

  3. Everest Base Camp / Kala Patthar (Above 5,000m): $8,000 – $12,000 USD

  4. Extreme Altitude Peaks (Above 6,000m): $10,000 – $15,000+ USD

(B) Horse back: USD 208-260 / INR 20,000-25,000 / day. This price can go up if a trekker uses it for long distance walk.

(C)Transportation, hospital admission, doctor check-up fees and medicine cost will be calculated on the basis of the situation. Hospital Care (Kathmandu ICU): Around $1,000 USD per day

India

Tentative cost for emergency rescue operation without Adventure Insurance:

(A) Helicopter Rescue:

  1. ₹80,000 – ₹1,50,000: Evacuations from semi-remote regional trails.

  2. ₹1.5 lakh – ₹4,00,000: Standard high- altitude emergencies in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, or Ladakh.

  3. ₹3.5 lakh – ₹6,00,000+: Highly remote, extreme high-altitude technical rescue operations requiring specialized coordination.

(B) Horse back/Ground Based Porter – USD 208-260 / INR 10,000-15,000 / day.

(C) Transportation, hospital admission, doctor check-up fees and medicine cost will be calculated on the basis of the situation.

What is Adventure Insurance?

Mountain insurance is different from ordinary travel insurance because the activity itself can involve high-risk conditions such as:

High altitude and altitude sickness — AMS, HAPE and HACE

Falls, fractures and other trekking/climbing injuries.
