Everest Base Camp Trek

5,545m

with Gokyo Lake

86,750 INR

There is a certain kind of journey that does not begin with a step, but with a quiet pull—an unspoken invitation from the mountains. The Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lakes is one such journey, set deep within Sagarmatha National Park, beneath the watchful presence of Mount Everest.

The early days are gentle, almost deceptive. The trail winds along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing high suspension bridges draped in prayer flags that flutter like whispered blessings. Villages appear and disappear, each carrying its own rhythm of life.

In Namche Bazaar, the journey pauses. Not out of fatigue, but necessity. The air thins here, and so must your haste.

At Tengboche Monastery, chants echo through the cold air, while Ama Dablam rises with quiet grace, as though guarding the path ahead.

The nights grow colder in Dingboche, the stars sharper, the silence deeper. You begin to notice your breath—each one a reminder that you are now a guest in a thinner world.

Higher still, the landscape turns austere. The trail becomes a conversation between rock and ice. At Lobuche, memorials stand against the wind, quiet testimonies to those who once dared too much.

And then, you arrive at Everest Base Camp—not as a conqueror, but as a witness. There is no grand view of Everest here, only the shifting ice of the glacier and the realization that some journeys are not about what you see, but what you feel.

To truly see Everest, you must climb once more—to Kala Patthar. At dawn, the first light touches the summit, and for a fleeting moment, the mountain seems almost alive.

It does not overwhelm—it humbles.

Many turn back here, content with what they have seen. But this journey continues—toward the quiet mystery of Cho La Pass.

The crossing is slow, deliberate. Ice crunches beneath your feet, and every step demands attention. It is not just a physical passage, but a crossing of intent—from reaching a goal to embracing the journey itself. And then, the mountains soften.

The Gokyo Lakes appear—clear, turquoise, impossibly calm. Nearby, the vast Ngozumpa Glacier stretches across the valley like a frozen memory of time.

Here, the silence is no longer heavy—it is peaceful.

The last climb is to Gokyo Ri. From its summit, the great peaks—Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu—stand together in a single horizon.

There is no noise here, no urgency. Only space, light, and a quiet understanding.

DAY 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m)

Stay: Hotel | Focus: Preparation

You land in Kathmandu—and instantly, you feel it. Trekkers everywhere. Gear shops glowing. Stories floating in cafés. Today is not about walking. It’s about getting ready for something big.

  • Permits sorted

  • Bags packed (keep it light!)

  • Final briefing

👉 What you’ll notice: Excitement mixed with slight nervousness.
👉 Pro tip: Sleep early—Lukla flights don’t wait.

DAY 2

Fly to Lukla Airport → Trek to Phakding (2,610 m)

Distance: 7–8 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Effort: Easy

That flight? Adrenaline. Pure adrenaline. Landing at Lukla feels like stepping into a documentary. nAnd then—you walk. The trail is gentle, descending alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Small bridges, prayer flags, smiling locals.

👉 What you’ll feel: “This is easier than I expected.”
👉 Reality check: That’s intentional. Don’t get overconfident.

DAY 3

Phakding → Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)

Distance: 10–11 km | Time: 6–7 hrs | Effort: Hard

You start easy… and end tough.

  • Cross multiple suspension bridges

  • Enter Sagarmatha National Park

  • Then comes the climb

That final uphill? It keeps going. And going. But when Namche appears—suddenly—you forget the struggle.

👉 What you’ll feel: Breathless. Proud. Slight headache maybe.
👉 Pro tip: Walk slow. “Bistari, bistari” is the rule here.

DAY 4

Acclimatization in Namche (3,440 m)

Hike: Everest View Hotel (~3,880 m)

You climb today—but not to move forward. You climb to adapt. And then—you see it:
Mount Everest. Not dramatic. Not overwhelming. Just… there.

👉 What you’ll feel: Quiet awe.
👉 Reality: If altitude hits, this is where you notice it.

DAY 5

Namche → Dole (4,050 m)

Distance: ~10 km | Time: 6 hrs | Effort: Moderate

This is where the trek changes.

You leave the main Everest crowd—and suddenly, it’s quieter.

  • Forest trails

  • Fewer trekkers

  • More mountains

Dole is small, peaceful, almost hidden.

👉 What you’ll feel: Isolation begins.
👉 Reality: Appetite starts dropping—eat anyway.

DAY 6

Dole → Machhermo (4,470 m)

Distance: 6–7 km | Time: 4–5 hrs

Now the mountains feel raw. No trees. Just wind, rocks, sky. Walking becomes slower—not by choice, but by necessity.

👉 What you’ll feel: Breathing becomes noticeable.
👉 Reality: Nights are freezing. Hydration is key.

DAY 7

Machhermo → Gokyo (4,800 m)

Distance: ~6 km | Time: 4–5 hrs

And suddenly—the reward. The Gokyo Lakes appear. Bright turquoise. Unreal.

Beside them flows the Ngozumpa Glacier.

👉 What you’ll feel: Calm. This place is different.
👉 Reality: You’re now at high altitude—move slowly.

DAY 8

Gokyo Ri (5,357 m)

Distance: 4 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Effort: Hard

Early morning. Cold. Dark. You climb slowly… step by step. At the top—everything opens.

Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu—all visible.

👉 What you’ll feel: This might be the best view of your life.
👉 Reality: Short climb, but very demanding.

DAY 9

Gokyo → Thangnak (4,700 m)

Distance: 3–4 km

Short day—but tricky. You cross the glacier moraine—loose rocks, uneven path.

👉 What you’ll feel: Physically tiring despite short distance.
👉 Reality: Watch your footing carefully.

DAY 10

Cho La Pass (5,420 m)→Dzongla (4,830 m)

Distance: 10–11 km | Time: 7–9 hrs | Effort: Very Hard

The toughest day.

  • Early start (before sunrise)

  • Steep climb

  • Ice section near the top

Crossing Cho La feels like an achievement on its own.

👉 What you’ll feel: Fear → Focus → Triumph
👉 Reality: Weather decides everything here.

DAY 11

Dzongla → Lobuche (4,910 m)

Distance: 6–7 km

You rejoin the main trail. Memorials of climbers line the route—quiet reminders of Everest’s reality.

👉 What you’ll feel: Reflective.
👉 Reality: Walking becomes easier mentally.

Day 12

Lobuche → Gorakshep → Everest Base Camp (5,364 m)

Distance: ~8 km | Time: 7–8 hrs

This is the big day. You reach Everest Base Camp. No summit view—but still powerful.

👉 What you’ll feel: Achievement. Relief.
👉 Reality: Long and tiring day.

DAY 13

Kala Patthar (5,545 m) → Pheriche (4,240m)

Distance: ~12 km | Effort: Hard

Early climb to Kala Patthar. Best Everest view of the trek. Then a long descent.

👉 What you’ll feel: Relief. Energy returning.

DAY 14

Pheriche → Namche (3,440m)

Distance: ~18-20 km | Effort: Moderate-Hard

We are back to Namche. You will better again at altitude decreases. You can roam around this beautiful place and also can buy souvenirs for family.

👉 What you’ll feel: You will little fatigue for long walk, but will sleep a good one.

DAY 15

Namche Bazar to Lukla (2,860m)

Distance: ~ 18-19 km | Effort: Moderate

You descend fast. Breathing becomes easy again. But something feels… different.

👉 What you’ll feel: You came back stronger—but quieter.

DAY 16

Fly from Lukla Airport → Kathmandu (1,400 m)
Time: 25–35 mins | Effort: None (but your heart might disagree)

That flight back? Still adrenaline. But different. You’re no longer stepping into the unknown—you’re leaving something behind. The takeoff from Lukla’s short runway feels unreal.
Mountains drop away, clouds roll beneath you, and suddenly… civilization returns.

👉 What you’ll feel: “Did I really just do that?”
👉 Reality check: The trek ends here—but it stays with you far longer than you expect.
