This is My Story
WORDS BY JEET NAYAK
Hi, this is Jeet Nayak — a 26-year-old, once confused but always a dedicated Bengali boy.
I’ve always been a beach person. The sea felt like home, and Goa was always at the top of my list. Mountains? Not really my thing — especially because I had acrophobia, an intense fear of heights. So I stayed in my comfort zone.
But in June 2022, something changed.

My friends convinced me to go on the Sandakphu–Phalut trek, the highest point in West Bengal. I was terrified. I had no idea what the next 10 days would bring. I was 90 kg, never worked out, never even climbed a jungle gym as a kid.
And yet… I did it.
I completed the entire trek — in a pair of plastic shoes.
That journey changed everything. It made me realize that I can do anything in life if I’m willing to try — even once.
And after that, I never looked back.
I’ve watched moonlight fall over Annapurna Base Camp, tasted the purest water from the Kashmir Great Lakes, and felt the magic of midnight trekking on the snowy peaks of Kedarkantha. And this journey… it’s still going.
Trekking taught me something powerful — we miss out on so much in this world because of self-doubt. We expect the worst before even trying. But once you step out, you realize how much the world has to offer.
From grasslands to snow peaks — everything has a story.
Yes, it’s hard. It’s exhausting. Sometimes even painful.
But the joy, the peace, the sense of achievement — that stays with you for a lifetime.
This is my story…Signing out for now. Stay happy always ❤️
